Home-made Hazelnut chocolate spread


There are many halzenut chocolate spreads in the market but if you want to control the sweetness or the chocolaty taste and texture for your children, then you can try this out in your kitchen. It's pretty easy and straightforward! You may vary the content of sweetness by adding bit by bit till you are happy with the taste. Substitute with dark chocolate if you are more of a healthier chocolate lover or prefer a bitter aftertaste. 
Vegan audience may substitute condensed milk with 120ml of soy milk for a delicious halzenutty chocolately spread.


Ingredients:
Skinned halzenuts (half cup)
3/4 cup of condensed milk
1 tbsp of honey ( or maple syrup)
1/2 tsp of salt 
1/2 cup of melted chocolate 
Food processor 

Methods:-
First melt bar of chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of boiling water or a steamer 
Stir constantly 
Pour skinned halzenuts into food processor and process for 2 mins until it becomes a smooth paste
Add in condensed milk into the food processor 
Process it for another 2mins
Lastly add in honey, melted chocolate and salt, blend it till combined and smooth

There you have a home-made halzenut chocolately spread and your kids will be delighted and proud of you!! You may even have your kids helping out in the making of the spread. ;)


Tips

Remember to add the honey and melted chocolate gradually and taste constantly to get the right sweetness.
  • To make it more chocolatey - add more cocoa or melted chocolate 
  • To make it more smooth - add a little bit of vegetable oil,  plain flavoured oil
  • To make it more sweet - add more honey or maple syrup 
  • To make it thinner - add more milk or soy milk 
  • To make it thicker - add less milk or a little bit more cocoa or melted chocolate
