The country I reside in, Hongkong, has one of the most amazing fork-roasted meat, a type of siu mei (燒味) in the world. Though we can get char siu spareribs easily from those siu mei stalls but I still like to cook from scratch. It is not about money, rather it is about the satisfaction derived from cooking. Anyway this dish is so easy peasy, you don't even need to sweat! You will be delighted with the end result I can assure you!
What you need:
- 6 riblets of spareribs
- 6 riblets of spareribs
- 3 tbsp of char siu sauce
- olive oil
- honey
- spring onion or coriander
- conventional oven preferably with grill and roast function
What you should do:
1. Coat spareribs with char siu sauce
2. Place it on a baking tray brushed with olive oil
3. Put it in the oven and press grill mode for 15mins
4. When done, switch to roast mode for another 10 mins.
5. Lastly, brush on some honey and grill for a further 5 mins to get the perfect finishing touch. ( slowly add on few more minutes until you get that ruby red color)
6. Garnish with spring onion or coriander
Alternatively,
-you may roast in 180degree oven for 11/2 hour if you don't have grill/ roast functions
-If you can't find ready to use char siu sauce in a jar, then you may have to prepare using these ingredients blend in a blender.
* Too much trouble to prepare char siu sauce so I recommend you to get the ready made ones.
